Well today Lisa and I were not sure how we felt this morning but it turned out to be the best day yet.
We did a morning call to Rudi to collect some blood tests for the dogs Lisa and I will take back to the Uk. So far we have 4 definite homes and 4 fosters. Chosing which ones is so tough but I believe the two that I chose found me.. Hopesey and shadow. Shadow follows me around like I am her new mummy so guess now I am. Hopefully she will be in England in 3 weeks or so.
We arrive at the shelter, the volunteers don't come til later so the
little guard man had cleaned the overnight deposits, this is not his job so he helped a lot.
We set to clean the hell hole as every day it breaks our hearts to see
the dogs in there with no air no windows to see out, worse than jail, Vlad
and the team said they would build a new enclosure outside today as a temporary measure so at night not so many free dogs and the hell hole guys can see the outside world. So today Lisa and I used the money we had raised from you lovely guys in the UK, you know who you are and the boys built the shelter, it took until 6.30pm tonight but it was done and we placed every single dog from the hell hole in there and to see then sniff grass and mud was too much, emotions ran high and in not afraid to say the tears came and would not stop for a while, mainly with happiness as success, finally they have some stimulation from the outside and saw their first sunset for god knows how many months! We celebrated with a team hug!
Another 25 vaccinations today, I know this may not seem a lot but I don't want to go into the pens, scare them even more by being rough and restraining them, I do it with trust and kindness so we don't care only 25 today, we are happy that they were done without more stress to the
dogs lives, they have enough.
We spent time today petting and grooming and even after a few days the dogs start to wag their tails when they see us rather than hide the face to the wall, a breakthrough..
So a great day! Emotional and satisfying.
I worry so much when we leave but Bagdat and the team here are so passionate and capable I think there amazing, So thanks to Bagdat, Gabriella, Vlad, Daniel, Anna (who helps vaccinate and today was ladling shit and wee from the holes by the pens as no drainage, scooping each bit if dirt), the blonde lady who I forgot your name who comes most days, Adriana who is also there most days, bringing food and supplies for dogs and us, her boyfriend and another guy who helps, the guard and all those lovely people who get stuck in cleaning poo, piss caring and are making plans for hope, they thank us for coming but I thank then for staying and doing so so much, there are discussions on the future so please stay involved and support wherever you can, talking, sharing, adopting, sponsoring, giving gifts... Together we can clean up this disaster and give the dogs a future X
