Age:  4 months

Type: Mixed breed

Size: Medium when fully grown

Location:  Foster home - Chertsey, Surrey

Live with children: Yes over 5 years

Live with dogs: Yes

Live with cats: Yes but is scared of them.

Special Requirements: A family who have time and lots of love to help Sophia become braver and adapt to her new UK life.

OUR ADOPTION FEE IS £550

This is Sophia who was one of 7 pups dumped on the street.  Sophia, along with her sisters, Lara, Moka and Rosa were taken into safety. The 3 remaining pups are still roaming the streets. We are trying to get them to safety also.

Sophia, Lara and Moka are now in the UK and are available for adoption.

Sophia is a sweet little soul, she is taking in her first few days in the UK after her big travel day. But it wont take her long to adapt and be a happy active pup.

Sophia is very cuddly and very sweet natured.

Sophia is fully vaccinated and microchipped, but is still too young to be neutered so adopters will be asked  to commit to doing this as soon as she is old enough.

Sophia has had the benefit of time in a home environment, but her new family will still need to be prepared for the work of introducing a pup to living in a family home - basic training, toileting, walking on and off lead, getting used to noises.

Her new family must be prepared to invest time in training and socialisation.

Please only apply if you are a match to our criteria.

Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's Name:  Sophia

Arrival date: 1st June 2022

Where does Sophia sleep at night?
Sophia sleeps downstairs with the other 3 dogs. She either sleeps in her bed or on the sofa. She sleeps soundly from 11pm until the first person gets up. She does like a lie in and is not impressed with a 6am wake up on a school day. She is clean but does have a little excited wee when she comes to greet us.

How is Sophia with current pets?
We have 3 small female dogs and Sophia is absolutely fine around them. Sophia is desperate to play and is trying her best. Unfortunately, none of them want to play with her despite her best efforts. She is very respectful and leaves the 2 older dogs alone focusing her attention on our younger dog who I think will eventually relent. We also have 2 cats and Sophia is nervous of them but is getting braver every day. She does have a little woof and a whine at them if they get too close. She does like to play with the chickens.

Is Sophia clean in doors?
Yes, she is a super girl and uses the garden. She does have a little excited wee when she greets us in the morning or when we come home.

Can Sophia be left alone?
Yes, she has been left for up to 2 hours with no issues. As long as she has had her walk she just sleeps.

Is the Sophia out for walks?
Yes, she loves her walks and gets excited when she sees her harness.

How does Sophia walk on the lead?
Sophia walks beautifully on the lead, but she can pull a little when she gets excited or spooked. I am using a harness which she tolerates well. She does love being off the lead and her recall is very good. She does not like to be far from her humans.

Has Sophia met other dogs?
Sophia loves other dogs. She is a little cautious at first but once she realises, they are friendly she relaxes. She is getting braver every day, and I think she will be a very confident little lady one day. She is very submissive and we have seen no aggression towards other dogs at all.

How is Sophia with humans?
Sophia loves people!!  She is such a super sweet and gentle soul and although she is initially a little shy with people she quickly warms.  Everyone she has met has instantly fallen in love with her as she is so endearing.  She loves children and has formed a lovely little bond with my 10-year-old.  We have seen no aggression towards people at all.

Have you noticed Sophia is afraid of any particular things?
Sophia has not been fazed by household noise at all. Our house is pretty crazy and busy, and she seems to quite enjoy that.  Traffic, people and other dogs make her a little nervous, but I am confident with gentle exposure she will adjust. I even took her to our Jubilee Street Party, and she loved all the attention.

Any other useful information?
Sophia loves her food and is a hungry little girl. She will eat anything offered to her. We are giving her 4 meals a day as she is a growing puppy and very underweight. She is currently 6.5kgs.

Sophia could easily live as an only dog but would need lots of doggie playdates to keep her well socialised and build her confidence. She loves to play so this will be really important.  Equally she could live with another kind, gentle and playful dog. Sophia could live with cats but given the choice I think she would rather not….she does find them a bit scary.

Sophia is learning about toys and is enjoying exploring the doggy toy box. She loves a tennis ball and is beginning to play “fetch”. She has started to want to chew, and we have given her an antler and a hoof which she enjoys chomping on.  She is a funny little girl, and her playful character is coming out a bit more everyday which is a joy to see.

Sophia will grow quickly, and I think she will be full of life and energy once she settles.  She would love an active family who will take her for lots of lovely long walks and play with her.

Sophia is a very chilled out girl in the house and once she has been walked, she just wants to sleep. She would be an ideal “working from home” companion.

Sophia is showing hoarding tendencies and has started taking random things back to her bed to hide or chew….my garden shoes are her current favourite.
Sophia has a wonderful character, and she is responding well to firm boundaries. She loves praise and this seems to be working well. With the right family her confidence will continue to grow, and her true personality will emerge – this will be lovely to see.

Sophia is such an adorable girl, and we are so excited that she will soon find her forever home and a family who will shower her with love and kindness that she deserves. We are loving being her foster family and we will miss Sophia a lot.

Good luck Sweetheart xx
