Meet Rey, one of a litter of pups who, along with Faith their mum, were taken into foster care in Crete a little over four months ago. The family had been dumped on rocky, waste ground but Faith had managed to feed her litter, although in a very poor state herself.
Faith found her family in the UK and is doing well. It is Rey's turn to find her family. Rey is a typical pup, she is lovely natured, learning toilet training, can be left alone for short periods. She will need regular play dates with other dogs if no other dog in the home. She will need adopters who understand puppies need consistent training, routine, rules and boundaries. She will thrive into a wonderful well adapted girl. Faith Rey's mum was smaller medium sized so estimate medium sized when fully grown. Rey has spent a little time in a foster home so she has seen something of living in a domestic environment. However she is a puppy who needs ongoing training training. Her new family will need to be prepared for the consistent work of introducing a pup to domestic life in the UK - basic training, toileting, walking on and off lead, getting used to noises and living in a home. The decision to adopt a rescue dog should not be taken lightly - we have had dogs returned as people have not been fully prepared for the consistent work that maybe needed. If you invest time and energy into the advice we give you, Rey will adapt well to her new UK life. Please note: A reminder - Chimney Farm will be closing by end of 2023 so all adopters need to be aware there will be no rescue back up after November 1st. However, we would like to assure new adoptive families that our rehoming team will be available for advice during the early months of their dog's settling-in period. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name: Rey Where does Rey sleep at night? She has slept in her bed next to ours, but as she is still a puppy she tries to get on the bed. With persistence and training, she has settled nicely. How is Rey with current pets? She is very playful and will get in their face, but very respectful if they do not want to play with her. Rey is a friendly girl who loves other dogs and no food guarding or meanness. Is Rey clean indoors? Not quite yet. We have had some wees indoors but we have started training her to go outside, but she is learning fast and is starting to get toilets are done outdoors. So wont be long but adopters will need to continue this. Can Rey be left alone? Yes. I’ve left her for short periods and monitored her on a ‘Ring’ camera. She has been left up to an hour and settles nicely, no crying or accidents. Is Rey good out on walks? She’s never had any lead training so at the moment we are doing very short walks with her and she is learning to walk nicely. She sniffs and is alert, and starting to walk well and adapt to her surroundings. Has Rey met with other dogs? Yes. She loves other dogs and shows no bad behaviour or fear and is very playful. She has been very friendly towards all dogs he has met so far. How is Rey with humans? She loves humans. She is quite confident, we have met with strangers on our walks and she says hello nicely. Shows no fear of men or children. She is a very affectionate dog who likes nothing more than to snuggle up and go to sleep. We have been to other homes for visits and she behaves like a good girl. Have you noticed if Rey is afraid of any particular things? Shows no fear of anything so far, sweet loving playful girl. Any other useful information? She has a lovely nature and is playful. Travels well. Loves food and toys. Untested on cats. Good in social situations like the pub. Ideal home: Rey is a pup and likes to play with other dogs, so if a home with no other dogs then daily play dates a must so she keeps sociable and gets her doggy play time. Rey has met older children, no concerns. She is just a sweet natured girl who is very affectionate, loves her food and toys and a comfy lap to settle in. |
