Poncho arrived recently from Crete. Lucky boy got his ticket out of a miserable Crete shelter, no walks or love. Left many hours alone each day.
Life starts now for this boy, he is happy and well behaved and will make a wonderful family addition. Poncho can be an only dog if applicants have time and will invest in socialisation, they must document this in any application. Poncho is fully vaccinated and microchipped and neutered. Poncho has had his X-rays and has been given the all clear. He has to build up his muscle on his back legs after life in the shelter but all clear. All rescue dogs need investment in routine, walks, meeting other dogs and basic training. So please be fully committed before applying. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name: Poncho Arrival date: 27th July 2023 Where does Poncho sleep at night? Poncho sleeps downstairs with our other dogs. He sleeps on the settee and is good as gold. He has his last garden trip around 11pm and then sleeps until we get up around 7am. How is Poncho with current pets? We have 3 small female dogs and Poncho loves them. He would love to play with them, but they are all being very boring and are not obliging. He is very respectful of this and will just go off and play on his own. We also have a cat called Brian and Poncho doesn’t show any interest in him whatsoever. Poncho is curious of the chickens but has shown no desire to chase them. Is Poncho clean in doors? Yes, he is a such a good boy and uses the garden every time. We have had no accidents at all. Can Poncho be left alone? Poncho has been left alone with our dogs for short periods of up to an hour. He doesn’t seem to mind at all and just settles and sleeps. Is the Poncho out for walks? Yes, Poncho LOVES his walks!!! He gets super excited when he sees his lead. He loves all the new sights and smells. He is fine with light traffic. We haven’t walked him by a busy road yet. How does Poncho walk on the lead? Poncho walks beautifully on the lead and does not pull at all. He likes to be close so will walk as close as possible. We popped him on a long line today which he loved but didn’t go far. He is a pleasure to walk. Has Poncho met other dogs? Poncho is getting used to meeting other dogs and needs to build his confidence with this. He has been a bit grumbly with some dogs, but this is just because he is nervous. He will need constant exposure to other dogs so that this does not become an issue. How is Poncho with humans? Poncho LOVES people!!! He is very affectionate and wants to be cuddled and stroked all day long. He will get as close to you as he can and loves to snuggle up. He loves visitors and is not shy at all. He is great with my boys, aged 11 and 14 and they absolutely adore him. He can be a little jumpy when he is excited but soon settles down and is then very calm. Have you noticed Poncho is afraid of any particular things? Poncho has taken everything in his stride and hasn’t been worried by anything in and around the home. We have a pretty crazy house, and he seems to enjoy that. He is a little anxious about other dogs out on walks, but I am confident with regular exposure he will be fine. Any other useful information? Poncho loves his food and is a hungry boy. He is having 3 meals a day at the moment as he is very underweight. He will eat anything offered to him. I think Poncho could live as an only dog as he loves people so much. He could also live happily with another dog or a cat. Poncho loves toys and has really enjoyed having a doggy toy box to rummage around in. His favourite thing to do is take the toys, one at a time into the garden and leave them there. Poncho is very cheeky and will need firm boundaries. He loves to run off with anything that takes his fancy. He is very puppy like and is lots of fun!! He has bursts of energy and then will crash and sleep. He would love a fun, active family to have lots of adventures with. Poncho travels very well in the car. Poncho is a lovely size. He is fully grown and about the size of a tall cockapoo. He does need to fill out a bit and it will be lovely to see him put on a bit of weight. He is an absolute dream and will be the loveliest addition to any family. Although we love him dearly, we are really looking forward to him finding his own family who can give him all the love and kindness that he deserves. Good luck gorgeous boy xx 30/07 |
