Meet little Pickle from Crete.
Pickle was one of 17 puppies thrown away in a disused abattoir in Crete. No vaccinations or care so all the puppies became very sick. Only 6 puppies survived. Pickle is one of the survivors. He fought to survive and now is happy and well in the UK looking for his forever home.
Little Pickle and the pups have only lived outside in an enclosure, no real human attention or learning the ropes.
Pickle loves other dogs and we are asking for another dog in the home. Sociable and under 8 years old.
Now in the UK Pickle and her siblings are learning fast and loving UK life.
She is fully vaccinated and microchipped, but is still too young to be neutered so adopters will be asked to commit to doing this as soon as she old enough.
Her new family will need to be prepared for the hard work of a pup - basic training, toileting, walking on and off lead, getting used to noises and living in a home.
The decision to adopt a puppy should not be taken lightly - we have had puppies returned as people have not been fully prepared for the hard work that can come. If you invest time and energy into the advice we give you, they will adapt and become well rounded dogs. But please do not underestimate this can mean a few weeks of hard work.
IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ADOPT IMMEDIATELY PLEASE DO NOT APPLY
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's name: Pickle
Where does Pickle sleep at night?
So far she has slept in my bedroom on a dog bed. She slept soundly until about 7am
How is Pickle with current dogs/animals?
She currently lives with my resident 3 year old Labrador. She has immediately bonded with him, plays with him and follows him around trying to get his attention!
She hasn’t interacted with any other types of animals.
Is Pickle clean indoors?
Yes she has had no accidents in the house at all, so far
Can Pickle be left alone?
I haven’t tried it for more than a few minutes but I’ve left her downstairs when I’m upstairs and she’s perfectly ok with that
Is Pickle out on walks?
Yes she has been out on her first couple of walks and loves it. She loves sniffing her new surroundings and running about.
How does Pickle walk on the lead?
Pickle is, of course, not yet fully trained on the lead but has been quite happy on our walks. She will learn to walk in a straighter line the more she gets used to it!
Has Pickle met other dogs?
As mentioned above, she lives with my 3 year old Labrador and is really confident around him
She has not been fazed by other dogs we’ve walked past.
How is Pickle with humans?
She loves humans! She immediately starts wagging her tale and is comfortable around a new person.
She very quickly cuddles and goes to play with a human and clearly really enjoys their company and being fussed and the centre of attention.
Have you noticed that she is afraid of any particular things?
What kind of home do you think would be suitable?
Pickle would settle well into a family which has the time to show her the ropes of living in a happy home. She is super confident and easy going, has the best and most curious character and is a happy little girl. She is constantly furiously wagging her tail with happiness! She is petite, but bold and brave, and appears to have a little Dachsund in her!
Her funny and bold character has had my family in stitches laughing- she’s hilarious! We’ve nicknamed her Thumper because of the way her tail thumps the floor from wagging with happiness even when she’s sitting down!
