OUR ADOPTION FEE IS £550
This is Monica who, along with her sister and brother, Rachel and Joey, has arrived in the UK and is now enjoying life with one of our foster families.

Her mum Phoebe was thrown out onto the streets with her 3 pups to fend for themselves. When we heard about them left without shelter, food or water at risk from roads and poisoning's. We moved them to our fosterer to be kept safe and prepared for travel.

She is fully vaccinated and microchipped, but is still too young to be neutered so adopters will be asked  to commit to doing this as soon as he is old enough.

Monica has had the benefit of time in a home environment, but her new family will still need to be prepared for the work of introducing a pup to living in a family home - basic training, toileting, walking on and off lead, getting used to noises.

Please only apply if you are 100% committed to the hard work a puppy can bring, broken sleep, toilet training, socialisation, boundaries. The first week is very important and with the right boundaries and guidance Monica will easily adjust and make a lovely addition to any home, but adopters need to be fully prepared.

IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ADOPT ON ARRIVAL PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REPLY.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's Name: Monica

Where does Monica sleep at night?
Monica sleeps downstairs with our dog. She settles well and not a peep all night even if there is movement upstairs. In the morning we are greeted with her funny little happy dance. Afterwards coming up for a little play and a cuddle/snooze.

How is Monica with current pets?
Monica is very happy around our dog. She barked at first but settled quickly, he is now her go to for reassurance if needed. They have started to play and will run around together on walks. She loves to settle near him or on top of him but doesn’t pester.

Is Monica clean indoors?
Monica is clean indoors. Mostly she will take herself out of the door is open but doesn’t always ask if it’s closed. If it’s raining she needs a little encouragement to go outside! She’s fine once outside and quickly gets on with it to get back in.

Is Monica out on walks and how does she walk on lead?
Monica loves her walks and trots along nicely on the lead. She’s not too sure about open spaces and is much happier along the edges and in the woods but it’s all very new at the moment for a pup and is improving with every walk. She will happily sniff about on her own but will keep an eye on what my dog is doing and follow along. She’s always on the look out for an opportunity to play.

She’s aware of car noises outside of our house but isn’t overly bother about cars driving past when walking down the road. She comes on the school run too. A little overwhelmed at some busy points and will come back for a quick check in but continue to walk confidently and she will carry on.

Has Monica met with other dogs?
Monica barks at most dogs she sees at a distance, improving from every dog!  She just wants to say hello and is happy to say hello to all dogs and is very polite but not scared. When on walks she is very lively and playful and will instigate play with other dogs of all sizes. She seems good at picking out the ones who want to play so if they don’t she will revert to what she was doing before.

How is Monica with humans?
Monica loves people and has quickly become relaxed around us. She is so sweet and very affectionate, she loves to snuggle in for a cuddle. She will take as much fuss as you can give.

Monica’s happy to say hello to everyone when out and will have cuddles. She certainly knows how to work the room with guests as well! She is quick to work out who the best source is and keep returning for more.

She is great with my children and their friends and is very happy to sit with them for cuddles. She loves their attention and is gentle with play. She has also been quite happy to play their games, hunt for treats and some basic training with them.

Has Monica been left alone?
Monica has been left for about an hour with our dog. She was happy to see us come home but nice and calm, no destruction or accidents. She did very well with being left for half an hour intervals when I was working in an outside office. She had the run of the house and garden but went to sleep. Once she realised where I was she would appear at the window to say hello but didn’t pine or hang around.

Have you noticed Monica is afraid of any particular things?
Monica is cautious of new sounds. There are lots of things to get used to in a new environment and away from her siblings. She has already made great progress and each day learns more activities and noises which no longer bother her.

We have some building work next door which understandably she initially didn’t like but on day two she had accepted it and is currently fast asleep while they hammer away next door. She will often take the lead from our dog, if he’s not bothered she may as well sleep like he is.

Any other useful information?
Monica is a very sweet and gentle pup who loves attention. She is also very funny to watch or play with bounding around with her toys. She is clever and has learnt to sit for a toy to be thrown or treat. She’s such an easy dog to have around. She does love socks and shoes though and will just take off to her bed with a pair if you’re not careful. She’s happy to swap with something she is allowed. She will only take what’s on the floor not tables or other surfaces.

Out and about Monica is energetic and loves to run especially if it involves a game of chase. In the house she is calm and play isn’t boisterous.

She doesn’t follow you about and will settle on her own or with our dog. But she is quite nosey so any sniff of something interesting happening or opportunity for some fuss and she’s there!

She is very polite around food. She eats everything she’s given but doesn’t rush it and won’t attempt to finish off anyone else’s. She will go and lay down when we are eating at the table and doesn’t scrounge even when you eat something next to her. Food left at nose height is still fair game at the moment though which is understandable!

The perfect family for Monica
Monica needs a family who will give her plenty of exercise and attention ideally with children for some extra fuss and cuddles. She is quick to learn so will benefit from lots of activities to use her brain too and then plenty of snuggle time. She needs a bit of understanding to allow her the time to calmly discover that all the new noises and experiences are nothing to be scared of. She would like another dog in the house to help her learn and play with as well as the opportunity to meet plenty of doggies friends when out.

Monica is a fantastic pup who has settled very quickly into our routine and we are enjoying having her here. She is clean, quick to learn and well behaved. It will be a lucky family that gets to take her home.
