Harry is one of 4 siblings sadly dumped at the Crete shelter. Two, Harley and Homer, travelled to the UK a few weeks ago and have been found forever homes. Harry has just arrived from Crete accompanied by his brother Humphrey.
Harry is a sweet little boy, these siblings have spent important months in the shelter so they will need some extra guidance to help them become braver. Meeting lots of dogs, experiencing new things, bringing them out of their shell. With a little more time and guidance they will blossom and make wonderful companions. Harry is fully vaccinated and microchipped, but is still too young to be neutered, so adopters will be asked to commit to doing this as soon as he is old enough. He has spent a some time in foster in Crete where he has shown himself to be a bright young chap - he has already learned to walk on lead and sit on command. His training will continue with his UK foster family and but his his new family will need to continue his introduction to domestic life in the UK - basic training, getting used to the hustle and bustle of everyday life and living in a home. Like all pups Harry will need to socialise with other dogs, rules and boundaries and a routine and new adventures to enable to him to learn and adapt well. All dogs will need to meet other dogs regularly. So we ask that all applicants provide full details in their applications of their plans for routine, walks and socialisation. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's name: Harry Where does Harry sleep at night? In the kitchen with our dog & any dogs that are boarding. He settles quickly & sleeps right through. How is Harry with current dogs/animals? Loves the other dogs he’s living with. He’s also living with two cats & totally ignores them. Is Harry clean indoors? Yes, been a little superstar & will go in the garden in the same spot. Can Harry be left alone? Yes, we’ve left him for a few hours, he might whine for a few minutes then settles. But he will usually find something that belongs to us & take it to his bed. Is Harry out on walks? Yes he’s really enjoying his walks, he’s been on solos & group walks. How does Harry walk on the lead? Harry is great on a lead, walks at your side & he constantly checks in. Has Harry met other dogs? Yes he’s living with our three, plus met other dogs we have boarding. Also taken him on group walks as I’m a dog Walker. He’s a little wary of new dogs, can bark when he’s unsure but has become more confident in a matter of days. How is Harry with humans? Little shy at first, study’s before approaching. Have you noticed that Harry is afraid of any particular things? Not keen on loud traffic, but nothing else seems to phase him- so far. Any other useful information. Harry is a great pup, super intelligent & learning very quickly. He’s very loving, still learning how to play, will sit & give his paw- he does this a lot if there’s a chance of food! Sleeps through the night & gives the best welcome in the mornings. He will steal any clothing left lying around & take it to his bed. What kind of home do you think would be suitable? Harry could be an only dog or live with another as he’s pretty confident & loves human company. Once he’s met other dogs he’s very neutral. He’ll need daily exercise & commitment to continued training. 08/07 |
