Meet Flipflop, poor boy found himself abandoned in a Crete shelter, then placed in a small kennel with two very old dogs. Poor boy didn't even have any friends his own age.
Flipflop was sweet and submissive and we knew he had to leave. He went to foster until he could travel and is now safe and well in the UK.
Flipflop is fully vaccinated and microchipped, but is still too young to be neutered so adopters will be asked to commit to doing this as soon as he is old enough.
His new family will need to be prepared for the hard work of a pup - basic training, toileting, walking on and off lead, getting used to noises and living in a home.
The decision to adopt a puppy should not be taken lightly - we have had puppies returned as people have not been fully prepared for the hard work that can come. If you invest time and energy into the advice we give you, Barney will adapt and become a rounded dog. But please do not underestimate this can mean a few weeks of hard work.
Please only apply if you are 100% committed to the hard work a puppy can bring, broken sleep, toilet training, socialisation, boundaries. The first week is very important and with the right boundaries and guidance our pups will easily adjust and make a lovely additions to any home but adopters need to be fully prepared.
IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ADOPT IMMEDIATELY PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REPLY.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's name: Flip Flop
Flip Flop is full of puppy joy and mischief - everything you would expect of a 7 month old pup. He has the most beautiful eyes and short shiny black coat, he still has some growing to do so will be a larger boy. Flip Flop is learning the ropes of living in a home and has settled right in. There is no reason to keep in foster he really is ready to find his forever home.
Where does Flip Flop sleep at night?
Flip Flop has the free run of downstairs with my own dogs and chooses to sleep alongside my two female dogs in the utility room. He was quite forward in making himself comfortable and popped himself in the middle of them on his first night and slept through 11pm -6am without a peep.
How is Flip Flop with current pets?
Flip Flop has no issue living alongside my two large female dogs he is happy to cohabit with them, he will have the odd rough and tumble play with Jess, shares toys and buffalo horns and eats alongside ours with no issues. Flip Flop has met the tortoise and was a little perplexed, we have not yet had the chance to cat test Flip Flop.
Is the flip Flop clean indoors?
We have had no accidents, Flip Flop takes every opportunity to toilet outside.
Can Flip Flop be left alone?
Flip Flop is a well-rounded young man and certainly has no issues being left in the company of my own dogs. He has yet to be left completely on his own however he is quite confident and independent enough to take himself off to bed alone into another room or outside to lay in the sun with no need to be near people or the dogs all the time so I do not envisage there being any issues.
Is Flip Flop out on walks?
Flip Flop enjoys his walks and a good sniff, he is keen to explore and enjoy life. He has a lovely bounce in his step and understands the lead and is confident when out. Flip Flop has no issues to speak of with traffic though may stop momentarily if a lorry passes, familiarization will soon help with this. Flip Flop really enjoys the sights and sound of the woods.
How does Flip Flop walk on the lead?
Flip Flop is good on lead, he is enthusiastic and currently walked on a flat collar and lead and a slip lead just for security. Flip Flop walks well at my side and will go ahead to explore when allowed. My 10 year old son had no issue handling him on a walk.
Has Flip Flop met with other dogs?
Flip Flop is a sociable boy and has passed and met several dogs out on walks and is keen to say hello but is very polite.
How is he with humans?
Flip Flop loves people and is quite delighted to see us in the morning he loves a snuggle in on the sofa, he climbs on us on the floor and follows us around when he wants to play and is keen to give kisses and ear nibbles! He is especially fond of my sons.
Have you noticed Flip Flop is afraid of any particular things?
As yet we have not found anything that Flip Flop is afraid of. He is a confident inquisitive pup.
Any other useful information?
Flip Flop is a lovely boy who will thrive in an active family ideally with another dog to match his energy though this is not essential. He loves his toys and food rewards and is super keen to learn and play. Flip flop will find alternative toys if items are left laying around, he can be cheeky with socks and shoes – typical of most young dogs but Flip Flop does enjoy a buffalo horn or stag bar to chew as an alternative.
