This is Moon , one of our wonderful South Korean meat farm rescue dogs.
Humane Society is doing such wonderful work in South Korea closing dog meat farms and we are delighted to be their UK partner in helping some of the Farm 17 dogs.
70 dogs were kept in horrifically cruel conditions, on metal bars, waiting for their age of slaughter, watching other dogs being slaughtered. Mothers having babies. Such a cruel life for these sweet sentient souls.
We welcomed 10 of the Farm 17 dogs into the UK Saturday 9th April and they all went to live with our wonderful foster families to help them learn to live in homes with families, adapt to normal home noises, teaching them to walk and enjoy human company.
All the dogs are adapting so well and we are always surprised how amazing dogs are and how they forgive and are able to move past their pasts.
Moon is a wonderful lad who has settled in well with foster family and their dogs and cat. He is not quite the finished article, not surprisingly given his background, he is wary of new humans, but is becoming more accepting of them daily.
He is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
Moon is clean indoors, enjoys walks, can be handled and comes to her family for affection. Please read below a full write up from his foster home.
IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIA OR ARE NOT ABLE TO HAVE A HOME CHECK AND MEET SOON PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REPLY.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's Name: Moon
Where does Moon sleep?
Moon is very quiet at night and sleeps in the kitchen on the floor. He has just discovered carpet is nice to lie on and we hope he will start to like the dog bed soon.
How is Moon with current pets?
He has fitted in well with our dogs and as he comes out of his shell he is also finding his place in the pecking order. We have a very brave cat that he will play with but he does chase them in play only but stops when they stop.
Is Moon clean indoors?
Yes very. There have been no accidents at all but we do let him out regularly and he prefers to be in the garden as much as possible.
Can Moon be left alone?
Yes. He has been left alone for up to 2 hours so far and settled down ok. He hasn't worked out how to jump in the car yet but once in he loves to look out the window. He jumps out ok.
Is Moon out on walks?
He loves to walk, it is his most happy time. He goes out twice a day 1 long and 1 short walk. We keep him on the medium length lead when he is out as he is still new to us but he just trots around with our other dogs.
How does Moon walk on the lead?
He is good on the lead and doesn't pull. He loves to meet other dogs and will allow himself to be stroked by strangers. We would not recommend having him off the lead until he really knows you. He is just starting to come back to us voluntarily
Has Moon met with dogs?
Yes. He is very good with them. He is very calm around other dogs.
How is Moon with humans?
Moon was very nervous of us at first but after a week we are now able to cuddle him and tickle his tummy. We have to be calm around him and he is starting to come to us. He has been very good with smaller children.
Have you noticed if Moon is afraid of any particular things?
Humans are his biggest fear, but we have taken him to busy places and he has been fine. He is still working out how to use stairs.
Any other useful information ?
Moon is a really sweet gentle dog that deserves a really lovely home. With his food he didn't really know how to chew when he arrived. He is now eating Butchers Dog food off a plate.
What is Moons ideal home:
Moon would love a home where he can be outside a lot and is loved. He would make a lovely family dog as long as it was a relatively calm environment and he is made to feel safe and secure. He will take time to adjust but day by day is getting braver and braver.
Moon travelled to the Isle of weight on the ferry and was such a good boy.
