A few months ago we announced that Chimney Farm had been chosen by the Humane Society to collaborate and help find loving homes for 7 dogs who had lived inside a South Korean meat farm.
It was Humane society’s 15th Dog meat farm closure. They do such an amazing job of identifying a meat farm and approach the farmer to persuade them to close and allow HSI to rehome the dogs. They then find an alternative way for the farmer to make a living and the farmer has to sign a contract for the next 20 years to not be involved in Dog meat farming. It’s a wonderful idea and provides support to farmers to escape the meat trade industry.
We are all now really excited because they arrived on 28th November. After a 12 hour flight. Can you imagine what goes on in their little minds, from a horrid wire cage to a shelter, another cage but a bit nicer, then into a plastic box and placed on an aeroplane for 12 hours, then let out into fresh air and kind hands.
Dogs truly can teach us much in life. If only we could be more dog.
It is a little bitter sweet as one of the dogs Scooby suddenly died last week of a suspected heart attack so only 6 were destined to come to us.
Our wonderful team and all the foster families were there waiting, desperate to welcome them into their homes and begin the process of introducing them to their first ever 'proper' home and to the love and kindness of a family environment.
It was wonderful to see them take their first steps on UK soil, tails were up for most of them, Poor Oscar and Pumpkin our youngest dogs, brother and sister were the shyest of the dogs, these poor souls were born and raised in a wire cage. Nothing under their feet except wire mesh, they are now 9 months and need to learn how to be dogs. But with our guidance this wont take long.
We have received some comments on how can people possibly eat dogs, is this because we have been told eating other animals is ok but not our loyal pet dogs? Every life matters, all animals are sentient beings which feel pain and so many suffer abuse for our dinner plates.
Please visit our new live king page on the website, we want to spread some kind living news to try and repair the damage we have done to our planet.
Please do follow their journeys on our website and Facebook pages. And you will see all the dogs blossom and enjoy being saved from slaughter and now learning what love and kindness feels like.
