We are pleased to be able to advertise another greyhound, Kid Cowboy.
Kid has spent 4 years in the racing industry and live din a kennel, out to race, not being able to mix with his own regularly. He has now been retired and is loving his new home comforts.
Kid was neutered the day we took him in, he has recovered in foster and doing really well. He is now ready to find his forever home.
Ideal requirement: Another dog in the home.
Dogs name: Kid Cowboy
Where does Kid sleep at night?
Kid has access to the downstairs, he could come upstairs but he cannot manage the stairs.
Greyhounds generally do not like the stairs
How is Kid with current pets?
We have 2 dogs, both female, he likes to follow them around and appears to enjoy their company, we think he gets comfort form them and will chase toys with them in the garden.
Is Kid clean indoors?
Kid did scent mark in the home a few times the first few days, but he was just neutered so normal behaviour for a male when new environment. He has stopped now but we would ask adopters to be aware that he may do it initially. He responds to a no and knows the rules now.
Kid is clean overnight and always goes to the back door when wants to go out.
Can Kid be left alone?
Yes, we leave him daily, he does whine for the first few minutes then goes into his bed and sleeps. We have a spy camera so can see him. He has been clean when left and no chewing.
Is Kid out on walks?
Kid was neutered only a week ago so we were trying traduce his exercise but he gets so excited to go for walks we take him for 2 a day and no issues. H loves his walks, has been off lead in an enclosed area and a good boy.
How do they walk on the lead?
We use an extendable lead when away from roads as he has a longer gait and deserves to be able to walk at his pace. He is good on the lead and waits for my dogs if they lag behind.
Have they met with other dogs?
Yes, all sizes and no issues.
How is Kid with humans?
Kid loves people, he loves cuddles, no issues with men. He follows you around and likes a cuddle. Very affectionate and happy boy.
Have you noticed if Kid is afraid of any particular things?
Nothing obvious. We have heard him bark once when he heard a dog on the TV.
Any other useful information?
Kid is just an amazing boy, his only downside was his scent marking initially, but that stops. He took a few days to settle as has only live din kennels for 4 years, he adapted so quickly ad loves his new home life, no more kennels. He loves our memory foam mattress and sleeps through the night not a peep. H tis affectionate, well behaved, always smiling. Just a joy.
His ideal home would have another dog, as he does like to be around other dogs and enjoys their company.
