Meet these lovely senior citizens mother Ellie, and daughter Maggie.
We were contacted by a family member. Their owner passed away and left these little old ladies to fend for themselves. The owner's elderly relative was doing her best as she had promised him, before he passed, that she would not put them to sleep.
The lady in her 80’s has been doing her best since May 2021 to find a solution. She believed if a rescue took them they would pts. So they have lived alone in the deceased's home, with the relative popping in 3 times a day to clean, feed and give a little walk.
We immediately went to meet them and took them into our care. They had been taken care of, but it is not a life to be mainly alone poor girls since May. They are tubby and need to lose some weight. But are friendly and affectionate and just want cuddles and a cosy bed.
We cannot bear to think of them mourning their daddy, waiting for him but for him to never come return. We are so happy for these girls and the family as now they do not have to worry about them.
Ellie and Maggie are 12 and 16 years. Yes they are elderly ladies but they can walk just fine, and actually need some walks to work off the chub.
We want them to enjoy their remaining years, loved and safe.
They are sociable, good with dogs and cats and just very sweet.

Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dogs' Names: Ellie and Maggie
Where do Ellie and Maggie sleep at night?
In their beds in the kitchen or at the bottom of our bed. Ellie likes to sleep under a blanket or sometimes even the big dog bed! For the first few nights I have slept next to them as reassurance and also to let them out for a wee in the early morning. They love to be near you and settle on blankets or in their beds when I'm working from home.
How are Ellie and Maggie with current pets?
Very Good with all our dogs. Good with one of our cats but they bark at the older cat that hisses at them. Sometimes Maggie will try and chase the cats but not always. They fitted straight in with all our dogs. They are so sweet natured and stay together all day. They both love the ham from the fridge.
Are Ellie and Maggie clean indoors?
We had a few accidents from Ellie but this is improving, she is now regularly weeing in the garden but isn't yet waiting by the door to go out. Maggie is very clean. We let them out often throughout the day. Their new owners will need to be a bit patient at first with this but Maggie is now standing by the door to be let out so she is fine. They have had to be let out very early morning for a wee.
Can Ellie and Maggie be left alone?
Are Ellie and Maggie good out on walks?
Yes they both trot along nicely on the lead. Maggie likes to run around with our other dogs but Ellie is happy on or off the lead. They both have a good sleep when they get back.
Have Ellie and Maggie met with other dogs?
Yes and they are really chilled. They are the sweetest, friendliest little dogs that love to be cuddled. They already come to the door wagging their tails when you come in.
How are Ellie and Maggie with humans?
They love people and would love to be cuddled and petted all day long. They settle on the sofa next to us and follow us around the house. They love tummy tickles. They are so very sweet.
Have you noticed if Maggie and Ellie are afraid of any particular things?
No they are very chilled out sweet old ladies.
Any other useful information ?
They are so pleased to be with people again they make these sweet little snuffly noises when they see you and sort of a dolphin sound when they have their tummies rubbed. Ellie shakes a bit but its just her age. They are really fit and manage to get up and down the stairs although Ellie needs some help sometimes. They are happy to be picked up.
What is Maggie and Ellie's ideal home:
They need a home where someone is around most of the day and its not too active. They will only need 1 or 2 short walks a day. You do have to watch their weight a bit but all they want is to have their humans to snuggle up next to.
