Meet Sprout who was rescued as Asprouli, he was rescued from a. very sad life in Crete and arrived to the UK 15 months ago. He was adopted and we thought we had rescued him from sadness, but unfortunately his adoptive family had kept some very important information from us. Which meant we allowed adoption but Asprouli renamed Sprout struggled to adapt to the home but after 13 months he was returned into our care. Through no fault of his.

Sprout is sociable, clean indoors, loves his walks. He is an easy boy, just wants his human cuddles a calm life, meet doggies outside. Sprout doesn’t need another dog In the home as long as he has his humans and they understand he needs a diet, shorter walks until loses some weight and gradually build them up.

Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's Name: Sprout

Where does Sprout sleep at night?
Sprout sleeps downstairs with our other 3 dogs. He sleeps in his bed and doesn’t move all night. We get up to a lovely waggy tail in the morning.

How is Sprout with current pets?
We have 3 small female dogs gets on well with. He watches them paly and will occasionally join in. We have 2 cats and Sprout has been great with them. He does get a little bit amorous with them sometimes, but they just tell him off and he soon stops his advances. He is fascinated by the chickens and would chase them if given the chance.

Is Sprout clean in doors?
Yes, completely.

Can Sprout be left alone?
Yes. He has been left alone with our dogs for up to 3 hours at a time with no problem at all. He settles in his bed and appears to sleep until we come home.

Is Sprout out for walks?
Sprout loves his walks and gets very excited when he sees his harness and lead. He loves sniffing about and exploring the woods. He always sprints on the way home 😊. As Sprout is quite overweight and we are doing 2 short walks a day to minimise the strain on his legs. Once he is down to a healthier weight this can be increased to keep him in shape.

How does Sprout walk on the lead?
Sprout walks beautifully on the lead but can be strong. We are using a harness and Sprout is tolerating this well. He is also great off the lead and doesn’t go very far away from his human.

Has Sprout met other dogs?
Sprout is not really interested in other dogs but is very tolerant when they come to say hello. He has great doggy manners. He has on occasion tried to play with another dog but is usually more interested in their human and what might be in their pocket!! 😊

How is Sprout with humans?
Sprout is a sweet and gentle soul who has had a very tough start to his life. He loves being around people and quickly attaches. He can be a little wary of strangers, particularly men, but quickly warms to them especially if they have treats. He enjoys kisses and cuddles and is very affectionate. He loves my sons who are 10 and 13 and they adore him. He just wants to be loved and this is very easy to do as he is so adorable. He is calm in the house, and we have rarely heard him bark. Sprout would love to be a mummies boy.

Have you noticed Sprout is afraid of any particular things?
No….he is great with general household noise and even our 2 noisy sons don’t bother him. He just lies in his bed taking it all in. Out and about he isn’t fazed by anything.

Any other useful information.
Sprout loves his food and is a hungry boy. He isn’t fussy at all and has a typical Labrador appetite. He is over weight and needs to slim down….this is imperative for his health and mobility and his new family will need to carry this work on.

Sprout loves the car and gets very excited getting in. Due to his short legs he can’t jump in or out, so we have needed to lift him in. He is quite heavy. Once in the car he needs to be secured as he will try and get in the front seat.
Sprout is a roller and likes to get as muddy as possible. He is like a mini hippo and loves to roll around in the mud and on the grass. His favourite roll time is first thing in the morning. 😊

Sprout loves soft toys and has a favourite teddy and a cuddly llama. He also enjoys chewing on an antler or a hoof.

Sprout is the happiest, sweetest boy with a delightful and playful personality. He has the waggiest tail and you only have to his catch his eye for it to start. He is getting cheekier every day and has made us laugh so much. He will make some lucky family very happy!!
Sprout could live with another kind, gentle dog but would also be happy as an only dog. He is very people orientated and we haven’t seen any evidence that he wants to play with other dogs in the home. He would love a family/person who can devote lots of time to him and shower him with love and affection. He will need someone strong who can manage him on the lead and lift him in and out of the car.

We absolutely adore Sprout and are so excited that he will soon find his forever home and a family who will give him all the love and kindness that he deserves. He has been the perfect foster dog and we will miss him very much!! Good luck gorgeous boy!! xx
