Meet the handsome boy Rufus from Crete.
We met Rufus in January this year when we visited a new shelter in Crete. Stuck in a kennel, no walks or love, so awfully sad. He was one of man many dogs in the shelter going crazy with frustration, bad care and boredom. Living in a prison without basic needs. Rufus is very skinny, due to stress.
He has had a full vet check and just stress and worms. He will put on weight and be a fab boy. He is a larger boy, who is clean indoors, loving, well mannered, handsome, he loves his walks, has fab recall and can live with dogs and cats.
Whoever adopts Rufus will be so lucky and really enjoy this special boy, he will make a wonderful family addition.
Rufus is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Rufus maybe a bigger chap, but so gentle and well behaved, so please do not be put off by size. Rufus has much love to give.
With the right boundaries and guidance he will all easily adjust and make a great family pet. We ask our adopters to be 100% sure they are ready to commit to adoption.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's Name: Rufus
Where does Rufus sleep?
Rufus sleeps on a dog mat on the floor next to the bed. He settles down really well but at the moment isn't quite able to get through to morning without a wee in the garden.
How is Rufus with current pets?
Brilliant, he has fitted in so easily with our dogs and tries to play with them. He also has been great with both our cats.
Is Rufus clean indoors?
Yes - he is very good at going only in the garden. We had a few weeks into the puppy pads initially but he doesn't need them now.
Can Rufus be left alone?
Yes, he has been left alone with our resident dogs and doesn't whine but he does try and get into things and sometimes knocks things over. He doesn't really realise how big he is and gets in a tangle sometimes with his legs!
How is Rufus out on walks?
He loves to walk, races around a lot and wants to play. His recall is improving every day and we now just leave the short lead on him but let him run free. He has only been off the lead when walking with other dogs so far and needs 2 good walks a day. He trots along beside me when I run. Rufus is the friendliest dog and runs to say hello to all the people and dogs he meets on his walks. He is fine in traffic. He is a big dog so will be quite strong on his lead when he reaches his proper weight and muscle mass but all he wants to do is please so he is easy to train. He has started to learn how to fetch a stick!
How does Rufus walk on the lead?
He is a bit like Bambi on a lead and sniffs around a lot but he is learning to walk next to us. He doesnt pull.
Has Rufus met with other dogs?
He is excellent with other dogs
How is Rufus with humans?
Rufus loves all people and is immediately friendly and wants to be loved. He would be quite happy being cuddled all day. He wants to stay close at the moment and settles on the floor while I work.
Any other useful information ?
Rufus has the biggest heart and is the the most friendly sweet dog. He doesn't know how big he is but he has so much love to give
What is Rufus' ideal home:
Rufus would fit right into a home with children or a large family who can give him lots of cuddles and attention. A home where someone works from home would be best or where he could be taken to work. He loves meeting everyone and the more cuddles the better. He needs a relatively active home. He would also be good with an active retired couple who want to take him with them on adventures. He needs to be around people.
This dog is the sweetest, friendliest dog ever. He loves all people and pets and is desperate to be loved. He has the most gorgeous sunny personality and his playful side out is now coming out. He would fit in so well with all children and loves his cuddles but likewise would be a very loyal addition to any home.
