Meet Rosa, who arrived from Crete after living in the shelter nearly all her life.
Rosa was being used by an illegal dog breeder and was seized by police in 2013 and sent to the shelter. We will never know which life was worse but we know that she has been in the shelter ever since. Living as a prisoner. Never out for walks, no freedoms. Just eating.
Rosa mainly entertained herself with food so is a tubby girlie. Always happy and even after her years of shelter life she remained so.
She would often been seen rolling in the dirt.
Rosa can live with other pets, but loves the attention so no issues as living as an only dog. No boisterous puppies. She wouldn't enjoy that.
Rosa would prefer to live as an only dog. She isn’t mean - just has had enough of other dogs and wants to enjoy life with her family to herself.
IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ADOPT IMMEDIATELY PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REPLY.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's name: Rosa
Where does Rosa sleep at night?
Rosa has slept downstairs from day-one. She has settled and slept through the night perfectly.
How is Rosa with current dogs/animals?
I now have a second foster dog and Rosa is greta with him and showing him the ropes.
Is Rosa clean indoors?
Yes. We have had no accidents .
Can Rosa be left alone?
Rosa has been left for short periods. Watching her on a security camera, I saw that she looked around for a few seconds and then settled for a nap!
How is Rosa out on walks?
Rosa likes to stop for an occasional sniff! She is learning to love her little and often walks, she wags her tail when she sees me picking up the lead!
How does Rosa walk on the lead?
Rosa walks very well on the lead.
Has Rosa met other dogs?
Whilst out on walks we have encountered other dogs. She is keen to say hello and has been well mannered when she does so. In the home no issues.
How is Rosa with humans?
Rosa has been friendly to everyone she has met She likes to settle in the same room as us, but does not constantly seek attention.
Have you noticed that Rosa is afraid of any particular things?
We live near a road that can be busy at times. She has taken no notice of loud noises (including very loud roadworks!). She didn’t love the vacuum cleaner but just moved away from it.
Any other useful information
Rosa is a delightful, happy, undemanding girl. She is overweight. We are helping her to shed some pounds with little and often walks and we have already seen an improvement in her stamina. She is not a playful dog so walks are her source of exercise and so these would need to be maintained.
What kind of home do you think would be suitable?
Rosa is a very easy dog to live with. She is not playful but likes to be in the company of whoever is in the house. She would make a perfect companion dog.
