This lovely lady, Rizzo, she was rescued having spent all of her life living on the end of a chain. Actually owned by a dentist in Greece, just left outside.

When we heard about her we knew we had to give her a hopeful future.
She was taken to the vets for bloods and health check, then moved to a foster home and neutered.

Rizzo was actually named Rosco, they didn't even know her sex. Poor girlie is now safe and although a little bewildered with her freedom, she is a sweet natured soul.

Rizzo is a special lady as she has a special tail. A tail that is floppy bless her.
Prior to her adoption it was noticed her tail didnt wag, we initally thought the muscles were weak and may start to when she got happier and healthier. But it did not. So we took Rizzo to the vets to check it out. It appears Rizzo could have been pulled hard or trapped her tail and damaged her tail nerves. Which means that her tail will never be a normal wag. If the tail causes her no issues then no treatment needed. So far Rizzo is not affected and it is just a floppy tail which causes her no pain or issues. She will always have a floppy tail. Her foster mum is a bit obsessed with her tail as sometimes it does look like there is a little movement when happy. So we live in hope.

Poor Rizzo was adopted but returned 9 days later, by a family as a first dog, unfortunately they were not meant for dog ownership and Rizzo was not happy, so we asked for her to be returned. Rizzo has endured so much in her life she deserves happiness.

Rizzo is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped and now in the UK and being a very good girl in foster. Such a kind sweet natured and well behaved little lady.

With the right boundaries and guidance she will all easily adjust and make a great family pet. We ask our adopters to be 100% sure they are ready to commit to giving him some guidance as life in the UK will be different her Crete life.

Our adoption process is usually completed quickly so if you are interested in adopting her please make sure you are free of commitments before applying.

Dogs Name:  Rizzo

Arrival date: 8th July 2022

Where does Rizzo sleep at night?
Rizzo sleeps downstairs with 2 of our dogs. She chooses to sleep on the sofa and is good as gold. We go to bed around 11pm and she sleeps until we get up…usually around 7am.

How is Rizzo with current pets?
We have 3 small female dogs and Rizzo loves them all.  She is desperate to play with them but so far only one will oblige. We also have 2 cats and Rizzo is great around them.  Our cats are very dog savvy so don’t run and will put her in her place if she gets too sniffy.  She is quite interested in the chickens but hasn’t chased them….yet!! 😊

Is Rizzo clean in doors?
Yes, she is a super girl and uses the garden. We have had no accidents at all.

Can Rizzo be left alone?
Yes, Rizzo has been left for up to 3 hours with our dogs. As long as she has been walked, she will just settle and sleep.

Is the Rizzo out for walks?
Yes, she loves her walks and gets excited when she sees her harness. She loves all the new smells. I am loving walking her!!!

How does Rizzo walk on the lead?
Rizzo walks beautifully on the lead, but she can be a little strong.  I am using a harness which she tolerates well. I don’t think it will be long before she is off lead.

Has Rizzo met other dogs?
Rizzo loves other dogs, and she is very relaxed and confident around them.  We have seen no aggression towards other dogs at all.

How is Rizzo with humans?
Rizzo love people!!  She is such a super sweet and gentle soul and although she is initially a little shy with people she quickly warms.  She loves children and has formed a lovely little bond with my 10-year-old.  We have seen no aggression towards people at all. She does like a lap to snuggle on and enjoys kisses and cuddles.

Have you noticed Rizzo is afraid of any particular things?
No  Rizzo has not been fazed by household noise at all. Our house is pretty crazy and busy, and she seems to quite enjoy that.

Any other useful information?
Rizzo loves her food and is a hungry little girl. She is very food motivated so will be easy to train. She has been known to steal food off the table so this will need to be managed.  She knows “sit” and will politely wait for a treat.

Rizzo would love to live with another kind, gentle and playful dog. She can be quite rough in her play so would need quite a robust doggy brother or sister to rough and tumble with. Rizzo could live with bold, dog savvy cats.
Rizzo loves toys and enjoys playing fetch. She is so much fun, and her playful character is coming out a bit more everyday which is a joy to see.

Rizzo is a very active dog and would love an energetic family who will take her for lots of lovely long walks and play with her.

Rizzo is a very chilled out girl in the house and once she has been walked, she just wants to sleep. She would be an ideal “working from home” companion.
Rizzo is such a beautiful and sweet soul who has had the most awful start to her life.  We are so excited that she will soon find her forever home and a family who will shower her with love and kindness that she deserves. We are loving being her foster family and we will miss Rizzo a lot. Good luck Sweetheart xx
