Meet little Popcorn from Crete.
Poor Popcorn was in a tiny kennel in a Crete shelter, with 8 other dogs, no walks, cuddles, freedom, toys, nothing. Just misery. We were told she was a puppy, turns out she is 8 months old, neutered but utterly gorgeous. Popcorn was moved from her prison to foster and has taken up onto the sofa for cuddles. She is a sweet girl, small sized, loving, good with dogs. She just wants a family of her own and lots of love, walks and to live a happy life now. Popcorn is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. She has only known life in a shelter and a short time in foster, so her new family need to be prepared for to introduce her to life in the UK and her new surroundings - including maintaining her training, toilet, walking, getting used to noises and living in a home. With the right boundaries and guidance she will all easily adjust and make a great family pet. We ask our adopters to be 100% sure they are ready to commit to the training and hard work required. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's name: Popcorn Where does Popcorn sleep at night? Night one, we set up her bed in the kitchen where our boys sleep – she was very restless, so ended up roaming from the kitchen to the living room sofa. She eventually settled snuggled up to me who’d stayed close for a bit of comfort. We have beds all over the house, she’s tried them all so far! How is Popcorn with current pets? We have two quite dominant male dogs – she’s shown no fear and has told them off a couple of times. She’s instigated some play with them today (day two) She’s travelled in the car with them and walked with them today and has been fine. She’s seen both cats and so far has been unbothered by them. Is Popcorn clean indoors? Not yet, but she’s realising outdoors is where we do our business. We’ve kept the door open for her and actively taken her out in the garden for sniffs. She’s been watching the boys too. Can Popcorn be left alone? She’s quite anxious. We left her briefly today, but could hear her bark howling behind us. She’s been following us around and gets nervous when she thinks she’s alone. I think this is largely to always being surrounded by dogs. Certainly something to work on. Is Popcorn out on walks? Our first walk was excellent! She happily wore a harness and lead – not keen on the slip lead, but after half our walk, I popped it off and she walked well with our boys. How does Popcorn walk on the lead? She took to it really well, absolutely loved being out and had no problem keeping up with my boys. Has Popcorn met with other dogs? We met lots of dogs on our morning walk and she was very bold – going up to say hello. Wasn’t overly keen on too much attention, but happy to say hello. How is Popcorn with humans? She is very keen for affection and interaction – she loves playing. She was a little wary of my husband at first, but he won her over with treats. She met my mum and was happy to have cuddles. She’s also been great with my kids and happily played fetch with them. Have you noticed if Popcorn is afraid of any particular things? Unexpected noises have been met with a bark – the postman, kids outside, the neighbours in the garden – but she settles after one or two barks. We have a road at the back of our house and she isn’t keen on lorries or buses. We’re not a quiet house, so we’ve continued life around her with the washing machine, television and hoover all being used. Any other useful information? She’s desperate for love and interaction – she’s keen to play. She’s obviously not used to having any attention and is fearful of losing it. She picked up “sit” in an evening so is open to training and I think will be easy to do so. She loves her food and has a penchant to bowl surf. She’d be an amazing addition to any family – they’d be super lucky to have her. What is Popcorn’s ideal home: Popcorn has seemingly endless energy levels, so someone willing to walk, play and love. Someone who will continue with training and showing her the world is a wonderful place. She does love playtime and can be a little rough – those razor sharp puppy teeth can catch you out – I think she’d love a family with kids, but something to be aware of. She’s tinsy tiny but bold – it would be nice for her to have company, but I think she’d be just as happy as an only dog. |
