This is Pickles who is being cared for in a foster home in Crete but will shortly be travelling to the UK to find her forever home. She is a sweet natured lady who gets on well with other dogs.
Poor Pickles found herself in the hell of the shelter in Crete. With other dogs who would not let her feed and would attack her. We moved her to foster and she had her teth all cleaned and learnt to trust and have a cosy bed. Now in the UK Pickles is adapting well to UK life. She is a calmer shyer girl who adores affection and is loving her new life. Pickles is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Although she has spent a little time in foster, her new family will need to be prepared for the consistent work of introducing a dog to domestic life in the UK - basic training, toileting, walking on and off lead, getting used to noises and living in a home. Please note: You will have seen on our homepage that Chimney Farm will be closing in the near future. However, we would like to assure new adoptive families that our rehoming team will be available for advice during the early months of their dog's settling-in period. We will not be able to offer rescue back up past 1st November 2023. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name: Pickles Where does Pickles sleep at night? She prefers to sleep downstairs or on the floor next to the bed. How is Pickles with current pets? Good. There have been no issues at all. She is shyer than our other dogs and so has been a bit pushed out but she is slowly gaining confidence. She completely ignores our cats and our younger cat has taken a bit of a shine to her and keeps rubbing himself against her which she doesn't mind. She is food orientated and loves the ham from the fridge. Is Pickles clean indoors? Yes although she has had a bit of a runny tummy overnight with the change in food so we have had a couple of accidents on the puppy pads we laid out overnight and she has asked to be let out a couple of times but in the day she always goes in the garden without any problems. Can Pickles be left alone? Yes. She has been left alone for up to 2 hours and just settled down. When you are there she follows you around and likes to be close and comes up for cuddles. Hoe is Pickles out on walks? She is good out on walks, just trots along beside you sniffing occasionally. She is starting to get more curious but has not been off the lead yet. How does Pickles walk on the lead? Very good, she is great on the lead and doesn't pull at all. Has Pickles met with other dogs? Yes. She was good with them and just let them sniff her and say hi. How is Pickles with humans? She is shy but loves to be petted and cuddled and wants to be by your side all the time. She also let's strangers pet her if they are calm and quiet around her She is a very gentle soul. Have you noticed if Pickles is afraid of any particular things? ot really. She is shy but I'm starting to see her personality come through and I think she may be quite playful when she comes out of herself. Any other useful information ? Pickles is a very sweet natured dog, there is no malice in her but she will need time to feel safe and start to relax. What is Pickles ideal home? Pickles needs a quieter home with another dog or on her own. She would be fine with cats. She is a very loyal dog and would like somewhere where she gets lots of cuddles. She goes in the car fine and loves her food. She needs a loving house hold who will give her the time and love she needs and make her part of the family. 03/09 |
