Meet little Pamela from Crete. Pamela is the sister of Hattie.
Pamela was in a tiny kennel with 8 other dogs, tiny prison cell in a shelter in Crete Pamela is a very sweet little lady, she is a little shy soon, she is enjoying her freedom and experiencing the big bad world, she has missed out on her important months and so is adapting well in foster but will need a family to appreciate she has missed out on so much and will need a little time to adapt. Pamela is a shy soul, but so gentle and sweet natured. She missed out on so many months and only knew bars, no walks or affection. Pamela has to learn everything now, aged 8 months. But she is quickly adapting to the big world and slowly gaining confidence. Pamela needs a family who will help her adapt further, continue showing her the way, guidance, exposure and not let her hide away. Pamela is clean, well behaved and a family who adopt her will receive so much joy with helping her become the dog she always deserved to be. Pamela is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Children 10 years plus. With the right boundaries and guidance she will all easily adjust and make a great family pet. We ask our adopters to be 100% sure they are ready to commit to the training and consistent work required. Our adoption process is usually completed quickly so if you are interested in adopting her please make sure you are free of commitments before applying. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name: Pamela Where does Pam sleep at night? Pam sleeps in her bed which is next to my bed. She sleeps throughout the night. How is Pam with current pets? At first Pam is a sweet girly who was at first wary of our dog but as she learnt he’s a big softie she soon grew to love Patch and I can often find her laying near him. She does bark at our cat but has shown no interest in chasing, I believe she is just scared of him as likely never seen a cat before. Is the Pam clean indoors? Yes she’s clean throughout the day and is very good at waking me up in the night if she needs the toilet. Is Pam out on walks and how does she walk on lead? Pam is out walking and can be abit if a trip hazard, she’s getting better. When walking near roads we shorten the lead and practice walking at my side. Has Pam met other dogs? Pam has met lots of dogs; those who she walks past on walks she is absolutely petrified of. She’ll lay on the floor and refuse to move until they have moved on. This is due to her growing up in a very busy shelter where she would have come across some not so nice dogs. If random dogs don’t respect her space then she will do a little warning snap. However when walking with dogs she knows she’s a lot more comfortable. At first she is timid and takes some convincing but once she gets going she is comfortable walking next to them and sniffing the same spots. How is Pam with humans? Pam is nervous of people and can take time to become your friend. When approached she will often freeze and fall to the floor in a submissive pose. She isn’t at all aggressive but is very timid of new people. She is getting better and will now accept tickles from those she is currently living with. We’ve taken it in turns giving her food to build up her trust. Has Pam been left alone? Pam is good being left both by herself and with other dogs. She can be left up to an hour so far. Have you noticed if Pam is afraid of any particular things? Pam has had a really hard start to life so a lot of things are currently scary to her but she is making progress. When she first came she was cautious of traffic and car, we’ve been doing lots of road walks and this is now a lot better. We shorten the lead up and walk with confidence to help her relax while walking near roads. Pam is also very wary of dogs, when out the house if she sees one that close by then she will drop to the floor and hide. We are walking in areas where we can walk past other dogs but create space for ourselves this will really help build up pams confidence. If a dog is rude and runs over this does stress Pam out and she’ll try to pull away from the situation. Pam is getting better with people but she still is very wary and won’t approach strangers. We’re using her love of food to help build relationships and trust but this will take time. When at home Pam will chose to be in another room but we’re encouraging her to be more social to help her confidence around people. The perfect family for Pam: Pams future family need to be calm and confidence. They’ll need to take Pam on walks to help boost her confidence and not be afraid to help her through her fears. Her future family need to be patient but equally not just allow Pam to shy away from situations such as hiding in another room if people come over. As this won’t help her overcome her fears. Pam would happily live with another dog As long as that dog isn’t too full on as this would overwhelm her. Equally Pam would happily live as an only dog. 11/08 |
