Melis is just over 4 years old, he has not had a nice time so far in his life. He found himself living in a busy shelter in Athens, no walks, confined 24/7. Luckily he had a kennel friend but it is no life for any dog.
Melis is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
He has now arrived into our care and is in foster, he has blossomed and settled well into home life, clean in the house, enjoying his walks, living with another dog and happy to be left for short periods. He is a calm dog, a little nervous of strangers at first but comes around. Enjoys snuggling up on creature comforts, blankets and soft dog beds, something he has not experienced for a long time or ever.
His fosterer has sent us the below answers to our questions;
His fosterer's feedback on Melis' first days
Dogs name: Melis
Where does Melis sleep at night? : He has the run of the house, but slept at the end of our bed the first night, then on the floor next to the bed quite happily since.
How is Melis with current pets? : Nervous at first, but becoming more playful/tolerant as the time goes on, bearing in mind Teddy is only a puppy himself and a large breed so very bouncy and bigger than Melis.
Is Melis clean indoors? : Two accidents first day but clean since.
Can Melis be left alone? : He has been left for two lots of 30 minutes so far with no problems.
Is Melis out on walks? : He is having two walks a day, enjoying sniffing all the new things. A little unsure of new people and dogs on the walk but he just stands still with his tail wagging.
How does Melis walk on the lead? : Very well indeed! Calm and quiet with only a little pulling to begin with. Very impressed!
Has Melis mixed with other dogs? : Yes, nervous at first, tail wagged constantly, no barking/aggressive behaviour whatsoever.
How is Melis with humans? : Shy at first, but quickly settles and is very friendly/waggy! Likes to cuddle on the sofa with you!
Have you noticed if Melis is afraid of any particular things? : Only when he meets new dogs/humans at first but he does come round.
Any other useful information ? : Loves his food and has no protectiveness over it, didn't mind the hoover, loves to cuddle on sofa with you once he gets over the initial nervousness or will just curl up and sleep by himself. Quiet, calm and friendly.
