Meet little Maude, Maude was handed into us as her owners could no longer care for her properly.
Maude is very happy to be with us and settling into foster so well. Maude is small sized, a sweet little lady who adores humans and cuddles. Maude is learning the ropes but just needs a little guidance and time to adapt to her new life. Please only apply if ready and fully committed to adoption. If you do not meet the criteria please do not apply. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name: Maude Where does Maude sleep at night? She sleeps in a little round bed in the dining room alongside my dogs. She does whimper when first left and will pace from her bed to the door and back, but she does settle. She is such a cuddle bug, I do think she would prefer to snuggle up in bed next to somebody. How is Maude with current animals? Maude is fine with both of our dogs. They move around each other both in and outside the house without any issues. She occasionally gives a little grumble if they come close to her, but she hasn’t shown any aggression. She often shares the sofa with them too. Maude has shown a little interest in the cat and will approach him. He just walks past her and Maude has not tried to chase him. Is Maude clean indoors? Maude will use the garden for toileting but had a wee on the floor during the night when she first arrived. She needs reminding to go out and sometimes needs you to walk about in the garden until she goes. Can Maude be left alone? We have left Maude with my other dogs a few times and have built it up to hour so far. She does whimper at the door for a few moments but then settles. We are building this time up and her adopters will need to continue this. Given the chance, she would like to follow us humans around everywhere we go, but we leave her regularly throughout the day when indoors too. She may whimper but settles quickly and soon realises we come back quite soon. Is Maude out on walks? Maude has been out a few times. She lets us put her harness and slip lead on and off we go. She does not seem bothered by passing cars but we have not been anywhere that is too busy yet. How does Maude walk on the lead? Maude will pull when with just a lead and/or slip lead, so would probably benefit from some lead training. A slip lead and harness seem to work best at present. Maude will follow my dogs out and walks alongside or slightly behind them quite well. Has Maude met with other dogs? Maude doesn’t pay much attention to passing dogs or dogs that we meet on our walks, so far. How is Maude with humans? Maude gets very excited to see us and will try and jump up at our legs with excitement. She does adore any human company and is happiest snuggled up on somebody’s lap or as close next to them as she can possibly get. She is very affectionate, loves cuddles and loves tummy tickles. She would follow us around wherever we go, given the chance. Have you noticed that Maude is afraid of any particular things? Maude doesn’t seem too bothered by everyday household noises e.g. washing machine, kettle, T.V. Any other information? Maude is a lovely, affectionate girl. She loves nothing better than to have snuggles on your lap, or as close to you on the sofa and a belly rub. She will let you handle her, bathe, brush her and wipe her muddy feet when she comes in. She doesn’t show any interest in playing with balls and toys at present but watches my two dogs play. She wouldn’t eat when she first arrived. I hand fed her and soon discovered it was the bowl she didn’t seem to like. I offer it in a shallow bowl but at present, she will still prefer to eat the majority off a mat on the floor. She will jump up at us in excitement but I turn my back and don’t give her fuss until she stops. Maude is settling in quickly, so it would be lovely for her to be getting love, attention and help with learning the ropes at her forever home. She really has so much love and personality to give. She will be an excellent addition to a family. What kind of home do you think would be suitable? Maude already shows what a wonderful addition she will be and a wonderful companion. Due to her affectionate nature and personality, I think she will make a great dog for anybody who can give her their time, love, attention, boundaries, training, and socialisation that all dogs need. She is very people orientated and seeks attention and affection. So, while I think she would happily live with another dog, she’d be just as happy to be the only dog in the home. |
