Leoni arrived from Athens last week, she had been in a shelter for a long long time, locked in a cage rarely getting to come out or walked, limited human contact, day in day out with just her two dog friends that shared her cage.
Though she is scared at first she does come round with time and we knew we had to help her and give her and her two buddies the chance of a better life, so she is now in foster in Farnborough where each day she gets a little braver.
Below is what her foster mum has to say about her.
Dogs name -Leoni
Where does Leoni sleep -Downstairs in her basket
How is Leonie with dogs and other animals -Fine with my resident dogs ,prefers to do her own thing .
Living with 4 cats who she is a little wary of. No aggression at all .
Is Leoni clean indoors - Leonie has had no accidents at all from the day she came to live with us .Good girl likes to go outside and holds until the morning .
Has Leoni been left alone?-
Leonie has been left with my resident dogs for 2 hours and has been perfect .
How is Leoni out on a walk -
Leoni walks well on a lead and doesn’t pull ,still getting used to new surroundings. Shys away from the lead when putting it on but fine once done. Leoni has been fine with other dogs out but again would prefer to just do her own thing.
How is Leoni with humans ?
She is still very wary of strangers and takes long time to come around but this is to be expected after 4 years in a shelter.
She will come in for a sniff and a waggy tail but needs every encouragement.
Leoni is not confident with children so would suit older teenage or adult only home. No aggression ever shown she is just a fearful little girlie who wants to love you but not sure how yet.
Is Leoni afraid of anything ?
Leoni isn’t too keen on the car but we are currently working on this.
She seems a little afraid of small children but she has probably never seen them before so totally understandable.
Loud noises can make her jump sometimes but apart from that she has been very brave in the household.
Leonie just needs someone who has a lot of time to give her tonnes of love, encouragement and praise.
A quieter home with or without dogs would be preferable but she does seem to get a bit of confidence from my dogs, she just isn’t fussed about interacting with them 😂
Cats would also be ok for Leonie.
