This is Lady - this poor girl was dumped in a field pregnant. Luckily she was rescued in time for her pups to be born in safe surroundings. The pups are doing well, but too young to travel to the UK yet, so they ware safe in foster and will travel when ready.
Lady is a perfect lap dog who loves cuddles and human company more than anything. She walks well on the lead, she is clean in the house. She craves human company, so could live as an only dog but as she gets on well with other dogs could live in a house with resident dog. As she has spent some time in a foster home in Crete, she has benefited from the training and guidance given to her by her foster family. However she will need time and attention to be given to her to adapt to living in the the UK with its busy, noisy environment. Lady is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. The decision to adopt a dog should not be taken lightly - we have had dogs returned as people have not been fully prepared for adoption. We feel lady would like a calm home, lots of attention and to enjoy her walks and her new life in the UK. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name : Lady Lady is a calm and gentle dog who has a lovely temperament. Where does Lady sleep at night? Lady sleeps in her own bed or on the sofa (that she prefers day & night!) in the lounge with our other two dogs. How is Lady with current animals? Lady is protective of her space. We have two older dogs and she will growl sometimes if they get too close to her. We are working on this with her. They are disinterested in her so she reciprocates. But she does closely watch what they are doing and will follow their lead. Is Lady Clean indoors? So far she has only had one ‘accident’ upon arrival to our home. We have only had Lady for 2 days and have had no other accidents whatsoever indoors either during the day or night. We take her regularly into the garden where she will toilet. She has not yet asked to go outside, but this will come with time. Can Lady be left alone? We have left Lady alone for periods of 1 hour per day and she is absolutely fine. Sleeps most of the time and no destructive behaviour observed. She does initially have separation anxiety and sits in the hallway watching the front door for about 20 minutes, but then will return to her bed in the lounge. How is Lady out on Walks? Lady walks really well on a slip lead or harness. She doesn’t pull or strain at the lead. Lady is slowly becoming more inquisitive and starting to walk with my older dogs. Her confidence is improving daily. She is starting to explore, sniff, observe what our dogs do and taking their lead. Has Lady met with other dogs? Lady is living with our two other dogs and meets many more dogs on walks. She is starting to sniff and greet dogs. She is inquisitive, gentle and respectful when meeting other dogs and learning dog protocols. How is Lady with Humans? Lady is great with humans. Loves cuddles and being stroked. Loves nothing more than cuddling up on the sofa with us. She is very gentle, not skittish and enjoys attention. Will follow you everywhere and wants to stay close to her humans. Have you noticed that Lady is afraid of particular things? Loud noises attract her attention, but she does not appear to be too alarmed by them. She is a little nervous with winter evening pavement walks in the dark, traffic noises and bright lights. Useful Information: Lady is a gentle soul. She has settled very quickly and learnt our routine. As my older dogs are not playful with each other, or with toys, Lady is following their lead. This may change depending on her new home and other role models. She willingly will let us brush her fur, touch her paws & handle her. What kind of home would be suitable?: We think that Lady will be fine with another small, older dog or as the only dog. She will growl in certain situations if a dog gets too close to her such as when feeding or travelling in a car. She will also totally adore being an only dog getting a human’s 100% attention. 15/01 |
