Meet Goofy, Goofy was part of a large pack of dogs in the Crete shelter.
Forgotten souls, having lived there nearly all their lives and likely born there.
Over the last 2 years we have helped over 200 dogs from the shelter but some had to wait a little longer as so many dogs. It was now the remaining 6 dogs from this packs turn to get their chance at a happy future.
Goofy arrived last week and has thrived in foster, such a great boy who has adapted very quickly to his life of freedom and home comforts.
Goofy has learnt quickly, he is a gentle soul, non aggressive, good with people and other animals. He just needs a family who will give him the chance and allow him to adapt to a new home and family. Goofy is a clever loyal boy so it wont take long.
With the right boundaries and guidance he will all easily adjust and make a great family pet. We ask our adopters to be 100% sure they are ready to commit to the training and hard work required.
IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ADOPT IMMEDIATELY PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REPLY.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's name: Goofy
Where does Goofy sleep at night?
On floor next to our other dog in our bedroom
How is Goofy with current pets?
Good. He fitted in with our current dogs straight away and there weren’t issues. Wants to play with them but they are a bit older then him. He likes the cat although the cat initially wasn’t impressed. Did try to dominate our smaller dog a bit at first but hasn’t since being told No!
He is very quick to learn. He’s not very food orientated but loves the ham from the fridge.
Is Goofy clean indoors?
Initially we had a few accidents and then we had none for a few days. Mostly toilets outside but there is the occasional accident. His new owners will need to be a bit patient at first with this and help him learn.
Can Goofy be left alone?
Yes. Although he doesn’t like being on the other side of the door to the other dogs. He has been left alone for up to 2 hours and just settled down with our other dogs. He follows their behaviours quite a bit.
Is Goofy out on walks?
Yes he loves his walks. He goes out twice a day and would love an active house hold. He has even jogged beside me when I go running.
How does Goofy walk on the lead?
Very good on both long and short lead either with our dogs or alone. When alone likes to walk beside you. He doesn’t pull at all. We walk him with a harness on as he's quite a fit strong dog. Initially he found the kissing gate into the field confusing but he's very good with it now. He stays with our other dogs when out and doesn’t really leave them.
Has Goofy met other dogs?
Yes. He was good with them. Wants to play and is a little timid at first. He runs away from them if they are at all aggressive towards him. He is not aggressive towards them.
How is Goofy with humans?
He is still a little wary but has now started seeking attention and allows himself to be petted by family and strangers. Has never been aggressive, he’s a gentle soul.
Have you noticed if Goofy is afraid of any particular things?
Not really. He was afraid of the TV initially but ok with that now. He’s still a little wary of loud noises but he didn't mind the hoover. It would take a few days to settle into a new household and new noises and smells.
Any other useful information ?
Goofy is a very sweet natured dog, there is no malice in him but he is a young fit male dog. He wants to stay close to you most of the time and follows me around the house, settling close by.
What is Goofy's ideal home?
Goofy would love a home where someone is around most of the day and another larger dog and if a cat not a timid one. He would be best in an active household or with someone who likes hiking or walking.
Goofy is a very loyal dog. He goes in the car fine, although getting in is still a bit confusing for him and going up and down stairs is again a bit of a muddle but he's getting there. He collects things from around the house and puts them in a pile or in his bed. He doesn’t chew them just piles them up.
He's not food aggressive and is starting to love cuddles. He needs a loving household which will give him the time and love he needs and make him part of the family.
