Our dogs need the guidance which other dogs provide so we are asking for experienced, committed adopters who have another friendly dog in the house. You must be committed to the patience and training required with all rescue dogs, as this can be a lot of work and we want to ensure adopters are fully committed so dogs do not get returned as this is very unsettling for the dogs.
Our dogs deserve better after all they have endured in their short lives.

Fanta is now ready for adoption, this sweet boy has waited his turn to leave the shelter in Crete.
He arrived 12th September and has blossomed in his foster home.
He had only known life in a shelter, never walked, no one to one human attention. The only time handled was for neutering and travel. He was initially shy and scared, but with our wonderful foster families support he has blossomed and learnt the ropes quickly.
With the right boundaries and guidance he will all easily adjust and make a great family pet. We ask our adopters to be 100% sure they are ready to commit to the training and hard work required.
IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ADOPT IMMEDIATELY PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AS OUR PROCESS CAN BE SPEEDY FOR THE RIGHT MATCH. HOME CHECK ALWAYS APPLIES.
Our foster home has provided the feedback below:
Dog's name: Fanta
Where does Fanta sleep at night?
I spent the first night downstairs with Fanta and he is now happy to stay downstairs alongside our own dogs in a comfy bed in the utility room.
How is Fanta with current pets?
Fanta is living in foster with our 2 large female dogs whom he takes a little guidance from though he is not reliant on them. He’s happy to have sniff and be with them but not yet playing. I believe he finds comfort being with them overnight. Fanta is happy to eat his meals alongside our dogs too, we have had all 3 noses in the same bowl licking it clean! Fanta has also met our tortoise whom he was unsure of initially but now ignores. Fanta has not yet been cat tested.
Is the Fanta clean indoors?
Yes, Fanta has been clean and will use the garden to toilet. We have had no accidents as the doors have been open with access to the garden. He whined in the night at about 2 am I came down to check on him and let him out – turned out he needed a wee, so I do believe he will let you know if he needs to go. He is not yet toileting on walks.
Can Fanta be left alone?
Fanta has been left for a few short periods he panicked initially and whined a little then settled in his bed with no further issues. We have been able to watch this on our camera. As he is used to sleeping downstairs with our dogs and especially if he has another dog for company I for see no issues with Fanta being left for longer time periods.
Is Fanta out on walks?
Fanta is learning to enjoy his walks and is growing in confidence when out and about. Fanta does not seem bothered by traffic and walks well by the road and enjoys a good sniff in the woods and fields.
How does Fanta walk on the lead?
Fanta had no idea what a lead was when he arrived and refused to move on it. With some work and confidence building Fanta is now walking well with the use of a harness for a little security and a lead, he is a quick learner. In safe places away from roads we have used the extendable lead or long line to allow him to explore the world around him which he seems to be enjoying.
Has Fanta met with other dogs?
Yes, Fanta has met with other dogs and is polite in doing so, as well as living with our dogs we have passed and met and walked with dogs with no issues at all.
How are they with humans? Fanta is fond of fuss and will enjoy snuggling up next to you on the sofa. If approached too quickly Fanta may appear a little nervous but soon comes round and realises that people generally mean he is getting a tummy rub.
Have you noticed Fanta is afraid of any particular things?
Fanta has never lived in a home before and considering this he is doing remarkably well. He isn’t too keen on the hoover – to be fair neither am I lol he just moves out of the way.
Any other useful information? Fanta is a fast learner and is growing in confidence every day, so I believe the sooner he finds his forever family and settles into their routine the better.
Fanta enjoys being around people and is getting used to our busy house, he is happy to interact with both myself and my husband and our children. A family with children would be fine but preferably those who are used to dogs and happy to give them space to adjust when needed but will also teach him to play. Fanta does not yet know what toys are, we have plenty here, but he is yet to find his inner puppy with them.
Doggy siblings to help further confidence and frequent visits/ walks with friends would be an advantage, he has always had the company of other dogs.
Fanta is a really lovely little character who likes to be nearby and see what’s going on. Considering the huge change in lifestyle for him he has adjusted superbly and will make a fabulous addition to a family.
