Handsome boy Dudley is a bit of a heart breaker. He spent so many years at the shelter in Crete, but yay he is now safe and well in the UK.
Dudley is such a gentleman, kind, easy, calm, loving. He is making most of human cuddles, as he missed out on so many of the years. Dudley was stuck in a back kennel, he couldn't see very much, no cuddles, walk or freedom. We are so pleased Dudley got his chance of freedom, he is now enjoying a cosy bed, the sofa, lots of cuddles and walks. Dudley took a few days to take it all in, but is adapting so well. He is clean indoors, good on there lead, such a calm, kind boy and a joy to have around. Dudley is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We ask adopters to be ready and fully invested in helping Dudley continue to adapt to UK life. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's Name:Dudley Where does Dudley sleep at night? In the lounge with our dog. He settles well and sleeps on either the sofa or a soft round dog bed. We do not hear anything from him from about 11.30 to when we go downstairs between 7 and 8am. How is Dudley with current dogs/animals? Dudley lives with our old Collie. They get on and have had no arguments. Is Dudley clean indoors? Dudley is a fab boy and totally clean indoors. Can Dudley be left alone? Dudley has been left alone for up to 2 hours with our dog for company. We have a camera and he whined a bit at first then settled down and went to sleep. Is Dudley out on walks? Dudley loves his walks and has 3 walks a day on quiet and busy roads. Also over the park on grass. How is Dudley with children? He has not met any small children yet. How is Dudley with cats? We do not have a cat and he has not met any cats directly, He has seen plenty of squirrels close up and he does not react at all to these. He has met a cat now and no reaction. How does Dudley walk on the lead? Dudley is good on the lead with no pulling and will walk by your side and look up at you for reassurance. Dudley has been let off the lead with no distractions around him and he has good recall. He gets very attached to his humans and this has helped with his recall. Has Dudley met with other dogs? Dudley has met a few dogs over Christmas and was well behaved with them all when visiting them at their houses. Outside of the house and on the lead, Dudley is more wary of meeting dogs this way . This is being worked on and will be something his new family will need to carry on with. How is Dudley with humans? Dudley loves people. He has met lots of people over Christmas and has voluntarily gone over to them for a stroke and a cuddle rather than them having to approach him. He has then settled in his bed when visiting other houses. Have you noticed that Dudley is afraid of any particular things? Dudley does not seem afraid of much in the home and is a quietly confident boy in the house. He does occasionally flinch at irregular noises such as sneezing. He does not mind the hoover, washing machine, doors closing etc. Outside, he is wary of busy roads and fast moving/larger traffic in particular he does not like the weekly bin lorry. On busy roads and with larger traffic he is given plenty of encouragement and praise but as he has not been used to these in his previous life we are working on this and will need to be continued with his new family. Any other useful information - Dudley is a lovely friendly boy. He is happy to got out for walks but just as happy to relax and sleep. He has not shown any interest in playing with toys but he has probably never been given the chance or has learnt to play with them. This may come in time. What kind of home do you think would be suitable? Dudley would be suitable as an only dog or live with another dog/s. He is very laid back and would suit a quiet household but would definitely require the regular exercise and walks to keep him at his current weight and fitness. He travels well and will jumps into our car with no problems. He bonds very quickly to his humans and this will transfer to his new family. 27/12 Dudley passed the cat test |
