Meet Cookie, she has arrived from Crete and wow, you would not think she had lived her whole life in Crete shelter without kindness, walks or anything fun.
Cookie’s tail does not stop wagging, she is happy, content, well behaved, sociable, loves people, not afraid of roads or strangers. Just a wonderful girl who is grateful for her new life. Cookie was in foster initially in Newmarket and has now moved to Sunbury so she gets more interest as Newmarket seemed to be a bit too far. Cookie took the move in her stride and is such a good girl, which is a big insight to how she will settle In her new home, easily adaptable and quick to learn Cookie is a fantastic girl. Cookie's only bad side is that she does have prey drive, she will want to chase but a firm tug on the lead and a no and she stops pulling. She is easy to train but will need a family who are prepared to continue training for her. Cookie is fine with other dogs. No cats or small furries in the home. Cookie would make a wonderful running buddy, hiking buddy or general adventures and will be so grateful and well behaved. She is not hyper active, just chilled and calm indoors, loves her walks and food. In the short time Cookie has with her foster family she has shown herself to be an adorable happy girl who is very sweet and loving. Cookie has made a great start to her new life but her new family will still need to help her adapt to life in a domestic environment and to the new sites and sounds in her new country. Our foster home has provided the feedback below: Dog's name: Cookie Where does Cookie sleep at night? Cookie now sleeps in the hallway with our dogs, she likes her bed and sleeps well through the night. How is Cookie with current pets? We have 3 other dogs and she was very submissive meeting them, very respectful. Now happy and wants to interact and play with them. Is Cookie clean indoors? Yes Cookie is let out frequently and is clean. Can Cookie be left alone? Yes, she sleeps when left, have peeped on the camera and she just sleeps the whole time. Left alone for 3 hours no issues. Is Cookie out on walks? Yes, Cookie loves her walks, she loves to sniff everything, so many new smells and environments. She walks well on a harness and no pulling unless wants to meet another dog. How does Cookie walk on the lead? Great. Cookie is better on a harness. She waits by the back door like a good girl and waits for her collar and harness. She walks lovely, she does have a quick pace so would prefer nice paced walks. If Cookie sees a playful dog or gets a sniff of something fun to chase she may pull. But she responds to no. Has Cookie met with other dogs? Yes, she is keen to meet them, has played with a couple of dogs. She is very sweet natured. She can sometimes be vocal when she plays, but it is play. How is Cookie with humans? Lovely, such a sweet and affectionate girl. Her tail does not stop wagging. Always happy. Have you noticed if Cookie is afraid of any particular things? Nothing really, maybe the hoover, she will move away if it comes near her. Considering she lived in a shelter all her life, she accepts everything quickly. TV, roads, garden, other dogs. Any other useful information ?
Cookie good points
Cookie bad points
Cookie’s ideal home: Cookie is a happy sociable girl, once she has had her walks she sleeps in her bed, so chilled indoors. She settles wonderfully after her walks. She is easy and chilled indoors, no destruction. She prefers to be around her people at night in the lounge or in the office when I am working. Cookie would love 2 good walks a day, she loves to sniff, so many new smells for her. I think she would make a fab running/hiking buddy. But she isn't a girl who is hyper active. She has settled into our routine lovely. Cookie can live as an only dog or with another sociable dog in the home to have adventures with. She is playful once bonds with other dogs. Cookie moved foster from Newmarket to Sunbury 29/1 and adapted so easily and settled well with new humans, dogs and a new home, so she will adapt easily to her forever home. 30/01 |
